Bellows and Buttons Tuition Weekend
24th - 26th September 2021
A social weekend of melodeon tuition and music, based in Stillington in the heart of rural North Yorkshire.
Stillington is a small village 10 miles north of York on the B1363 Helmsley Road with roots in Medieval times. It may be small but it has 2 pub/restaurants, an Indian restaurant, a Fish & Chip shop and a very nice cafe on a Saturday at the Old Mill. It also boasts a Sports centre with bowls, tennis, cricket, football, squash and snooker, which is where the event will be centred It is on a bus route between Easingwold and York
. There is also a community shop and a C15th Church in the village.
For those not taking part in the melodeon weekend there are many attractions within easy reach:
The tuition will be based around Stillington Sports Club, Bowling Club, and Village Hall.
The Sports Club has a variety of rooms for workshops.
There is a further tutorial space in the bowling club and village hall.
All venues have will refreshments served from the kitchens for coffee and tea breaks during the workshops.
The sports club will be the focus for the Saturday evening sessions, and also has a bar for socialising. Tea and coffee will also be available. Weather permitting there will also be outside break out spaces.
On Sunday evening there will be a concert in the village hall featuring some of the tutors of the event. This concert will be open to the village as well as the weekend delegates who decide to stay.
Of course there will be a trade stand for Acorn Instruments
, and Theo Gibb of The Box Place
will be available for any required melodeon fettling over the weekend.
